About
Univ.-Prof. Dr. Astrid Veronig is Head of the Department of Astro-and Geophysics at the Institute of Physics of the University of Graz and head of Kanzelhöhe Observatory for Solar and Environmental Research. She and her research group are mostly focusing on the physics of solar flares, coronal mass ejections and their effects on the Earth's space weather. She is Co-Investigator of the Spectrometer Imaging Telescope for X-rays (STIX) onboard ESA's Solar Orbiter mission. Recent research projects are H2020 SOLARNET (Integrating High Resolution Solar Physics), H2020 SOLER (Energetic Solar Eruptions: Data and Analysis Tools), FWF Solar Orbiter STIX, and the real-time flare recognition provided at Kanzelhöhe Observatory for ESA's Space Situational Awareness SSA Space Weather programme. More information on the "Solar and Heliospheric Physics“ research group and activities can be found here.
